Teddy Bear Festival at Woburn Abbey. "115 Years of Teddy Bears. 1902-2017."
We look forward to seeing you at Woburn Abbey on Sunday 11th June 2017, from 10am to 4pm, for a day dedicated to teddy bears! We have many of the top names in the Industry bringing their teddy bears, antique artist and modern, for you to browse and buy.
This special Sunday 11th June 2017 is the culmination of endless discussions and musings about staging a show based on teddy bears since the early 20th century.
We not only have the magnificent Sculpture Gallery but also the quaint Antiques Centre with it's amazing shop fronts from a past era. The central courtyard will be filled with live music to listen to and food to keep the hunger pangs at bay. There will be experts on the lawns to value your special bear.
There will be very special and rarely seen exhibition of rare and famous teddy bears kindly lent to us by various collectors and institutions including the Spielzeug Welten Museum Basel.
Each year we will be organising an exhibition at the festival, this first one, on famous bears, important bears that have been sold over the last 30 years, well known bears in private or public collections; and perhaps even the odd famous celebrity bear.
We are delighted that one of our first confirmed stars is The original Alfonzo, a unique red Steiff teddy bear, the childhood toy of Russian Princess Xenia, courtesy of Gunhild Kirk Johansen of the new Teddy Bear Art Museum in Billund, Denmark”.
Do you have one to exhibit? Please send details and a photograph to email@example.com and we will exhibit it alongside the museum pieces.
You will find the best of past and present teddy bear favourites, for sale by the most respected artists, dealers and collectors.
We are lucky to be able to welcome a number of the industry's experts, who will also act as judges for our celebration Awards, the "Alfonzo" Teddy Bear Awards, who include;
R. John Wright and Kelly Dean from America, Eric Petit from France, Thomas Plant featuring on Antiques Road Trip and Bargain Hunt, Ian Pout from Teddy Bears of Witney, Sue Pearson of Sue Pearson Bears, Catherine Howell the Collections Manager at V & A Museum of Childhood, Jena Pang concert pianist, Dot Bird teddy bear restorer and Joanne McDonald of Vectis all from Great Britain together with Daniel Agnew and Hilary Pauley.
There will be wonderful sights, smells and sounds, enough to fill all your senses! A real destination weekend! We would really like to see and meet you there.
Entry tickets to the Festival are £12 to include entry to the Festival and fair as well as being able to enjoy the historic gardens and grounds of the Abbey all day. You can also upgrade your ticket to visit the Abbey itself, home of the Duke and Duchess of Bedford.
